UFSoft's Gilford Response Remote Communicator is a software that enables the users of Gilford Response Spectrophometer to communicate with their spectrophotometer remotely with a  modern computer system.

The software was designed to work with windows operating system, it has been tested and used with windows Xp and window Vista.

The GILFORD RESPONSE Spectrophotometer is connected to the remote computer system through a RS-232C serial port cable.  One can also use a usb-serial cable adapter to connect the response spectrophotometer to the computer.

The software was designed to enable analyst to Initiate operation directly through the remotely connected computer system.

The software would also allow analyst to Retrieve data from the GILFORD RESPONSE Spectrophotometer and then save it in the computer hard disk for onward processing.

The software can also convert most of the retrieved data to a CSV format that can easily be manipulated from microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs. It also has a data library feature that allows analyst to save retrieved data and experiment settings for future references and use.

Additional information about the software.

PREAMBLE PAGE
Choose a user and then specify other options.

Click Ok to set the settings. You can return to this page to change any of the settings later by clicking the "edit " at the top part of the page.

REMOTE ANALYSIS
This option allows you to specify the experiment settings and then perform a remote analysis on the spec.

In the page that opens up after clicking this option, you can select between the "Use Saved Settings" or "Specify new Settings" Option.

Use Saved Settings allows you to select from saved experiment settings ; Specify new settings allows you to specify new settings.

All saved result have their associated settings definitions saved too. It contains the suffix,"_settings" attached to the result name.

Clicking the "Perform Analysis" Opens up a page that allows you to choose the Data Type Mode. You can choose between the RunTime or PostRun Data.

PostRun or RunTime

Post run Data is obtained after the experiment is completed.
The run time Data is obtained immediately each Data points are scanned by the spec.

The Generated runTime Values can only be exported to Excel in the raw form it was obtained from the Spec.

The values for the Post run Data are rearranged into a consistent result pattern.

Summarily, You can convert the raw generated RunTime result to Excel. You can also View it. But when in RunTime Mode, Saving the result saves the associated postRun result. So the only benefit of run time is to see the raw result and to also export the raw  result to excel.

(Use Run Time only when you really need to. The machine may respond to it in an unpredictable way.)

Note also that the Maximum no of READ experiment expected by the Software is 6.

The READ  and Wave Experiment RunTime data were rearranged to give a better outlook, other experiment types under RunTime Data mode were not modified

DATA RETRIEVAL

Click the "Data Retrieval" from the select Task Page.

Click the retrieve data button from the page that pops up.(Ensure that there are data available on the device memory before clicking it.)

When the Data retrieval process is complete, You would be shown the Data Page. Where you can save the data to excel or to the data library.

DATA LIBRARY

This is a database that contains all the saved Data.
Select the desired result you wish to view and then click the View Details Button.
