The Federal Government of Nigeria operates a number of scholarships
tenable overseas. These scholarships are made available to the Federal
Republic of Nigeria under a series of Bilateral Agreements with the awarding
countries. The scholarships are fully paid for by the awarding countries and
they are tenable at institutions of higher education in such awarding
countries. The Federal Government of Nigeria, however, gives a small
supplementary allowance to each scholar as its token contribution to this
scholarship programme.
All offers will, as a matter of policy, be made to the Nigerian Government in
the first instance through the ministry of Foreign Affairs which then passes
them to the Federal Scholarship Board For evaluation and processing.
FIELDSIn support of this policy, overseas scholarships are expected to be available
at:
(i) Postgraduate level in all fields and
(ii) Undergraduate
Undergraduate level in areas of priority as may be determine From
time to time in consultation with the manpower Board and those
courses for Which local facilities are inadequate. Generally, these
are mainly courses in Agriculture, architecture, Medicine/public
Health, science, applied sciences, Mathematics, geology, Foreign
Languages, Engineering, and Social Sciences.
COUNTRIESThe countries likely to provide scholarship offers to Nigeria cannot be
ascertained
as of now. However, for the general guidance of candidates below is list of
Countries that have at one time or the other made offers to Nigeria and some
of which are expected to provide offers in year 2010/2011.

*Candidates for morocco and Algeria must have at least a pass in French
Language in WASSCE or NECO. Moroccan candidates must have been
Obtained this year or last year, but not later than last year.
Method of Completion and submission of FormsApplication forms are completed online at
www.fsb.gov.ng Applicants MUST go through the INSTRUCTIONS before completing the online form
All applicants MUST fill the online version of the Application form first and remember
to PRINT an Acknowledgement Slip online after completing and submitting
the form
Your Acknowledgement Slip would be required from you at the Interview venue.
Next applicants MUST download the PDF version of the BEA form and print a copy
of it, fill it and make 5 photocopies of the PDF application form and bring it along
with your Acknowledgement Slip
1. All Educational Certificates must be authenticated.
2. Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) As or Bs including English and
mathematics in WAEC or NECO. Only one certificate is accepted.
3. Certificates must not be more than three (3) years.
4. Undergraduate candidates most not be more than twenty-three (23) and not
less than eighteen (18) years at the time of taking up the award.
5. Medical certificate of fitness obtained from teaching Hospital or any
Government or Abuja National Hospital only.
6. Yellow Card for yellow fever immunization from Ministry of health
7. HIV /Hepatitis Test Certificate obtained from Teaching Hospital or National
Hospital Abuja only.
8. Authenticated Birth Certificate
9. Clean Record Certificate from the place of residence local police station
10. Photo-Copies of International Passport with minimum of two (2) years to
expiring date.
11. Twenty (20) coloured passport photographs on white background (size
4x6cm)
12. Documents presented must have the same names as shown in the birth
certificate/ international passports, otherwise, must be accompanied with
affidavit.
* Applicants for postgraduate studies in Russia should be holders of
M.Sc./M.A/M.B.B.S from Russian Universities Only.
13. The age limit for postgraduate applicant is thirty-five (35) years.
14. An applicant for postgraduate must have at least two (2) years of practical
experience.
15. Applicants for postgraduate course should also submit a list of published
works stating the place of publication and a summary of future research work.

NOTE:- Russian graduates should submit their documents in Russian
Language.
