NIMR Molecular biology workshop 2010: Call for Application

(Nigerianbioscientist.com: July, 2010) The Molecular Biology and Biotechnology department of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) invites suitable candidates wishing to improve or acquire expertise on Molecular biology technique for an intensive hands-on training workshop.

The training workshop will commence from Monday 2nd - Saturday 7 August, 2010 at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos. This training is organized by the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology department of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research with technical support from the ICGEB, South Africa, Iqaba Biotechnology, South Africa and Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Germany.

The department is dedicated to enhancing molecular biology capacity building in Nigeria. Our training workshop will assist scientists to develop skills required in active research and teaching programs in the area of molecular biology. The workshop will consist of mainly of two components- Lectures and hands–on practical training and based on feedbacks from the last workshop, this year's workshop will be conducted for six days.

The workshop is open to all researchers, lecturers, professionals in the pharmaceutical and drug manufacturing industries etc. Limited number of applications will be accepted from students based on merit and need especially in the research project of the applicant.

Travel and accommodation will be organized by the applicant while the tuition fee for the training workshop is N80,000($500). This is inclusive of tea breaks, Lunch, cocktails and workshop materials and folder. Applicants are advised to apply for sponsorship elsewhere as there is no scholarship opportunity in the training.
