Research Summary and institutional Mandates
The institute comprises of eleven units. The medical and genetics research unit (MGRU) focus its research attention in population genetics of sickle cell disease, the thalassaemias and other factors, which modify the pathology of these diseases; Identification of genetic factors modifying the incidence and prognosis of Hypertension, Pre-eclampsia/Eclampsia and Diabetes; Molecular Epidemiology of the genetic markers, which affect the prognosis resistance and treatment of malaria.
